Okay so Christmas break is almost hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I think english class has been really fun lately. We been starting the new mystery unit, and its my favorite. I think it was last week, but we watched a scary movie called "When a stranger calls home." Honestly i didn't think the movie was all that scary at all, but the end was very suspenseful. This week we read a couple of different stories. The first one we read was about a boy went to a boarding house to stay, because he needed a place to stay. As it turns out the woman who owns the boarding house is a killer, and she enjoys stuffing her "pets." There have only been 2 people who have stayed in her boarding house, and thats not including the boy himself. The boy actually recognizes the people who have stayed there, and then woman thinks its funny. Later, the boy finds out the the animals in her house are all fake and they have been stuffed! (Its suchhhhhh a weird story)! Anyways then we read a story about a magician and a strightjacket. But today we have started the movie called the "illusionist," i have seen it before and im really excited to see it again, becuase its a really gooddddddd movieeee:)

So i hope this week goes by super fast because im looking forward to winter break. Since last week we have been reading about gay rights. On friday we were put into groups then we have to read a article about gays in a family, miltiary, ...etc. but it depended on group you were in of which article that you read. When i read the article i was kinda shocked because i havent really heard much about homosexuals. It was defiantly different. Today in class, we shared the summaries that we wrote in class on friday with our group members and then nominated one group member to read their summary to the class, then have a class discussion about it. It was interesting to hear the viewpoints from my classmates. Some were for it while other were completely against gays. My group still has to finish our group discussion with the class and we sill need to finish reading our questions to the class. It shall be intreseting to hear the reat of the viewpoints. Im excitedddddd!
Over the weekend, i didnt really do that much. My mom and i went shopping at macys on saturday night, and before that me and my dad went to the apple store to look at mac book airs. Their soooooo KOOL!

Nightjohn, Mascot and The Great Debaters
The story Nightjohn is a told through a young girl named sarny who is living on a slave plantation with her mom (mammy). On the plantation, things were ran quite hasty. The slaves were told to pick cotton and they were not allowed to leave. During the story a couple of slaves tried to escape the plantation because of harsh treatment. Old Waller the man who ownd the plantation liked to take advantage of his slaves and beat them. One slave named Jim who had a girlfriend on the plantation decided to go and visit her during the night. When Old Waller found out that he was sneaking out to go see her, he let his dogs run loose to go and tear him up. Another slave named Pawley died because Old Waller cut the part just above the heal so that Pawley couldn’t ever run again. But Pawley eventually died because he lost to much blood from the cut. Later in the story, Nightjohn who goes by the name john comes into the story. Nightjohn was a slave who came back to teach his fellow friends how to read and write. Nightjohn begins to teach Sarney because he was willing to make a trade of teaching letters for tobacco. By the end of the night, Nightjohn teached sarney the first letter of the alphabet “A”. Sarney gets in trouble with mammy because mammy knows that teaching wasn’t allowed on the plantation and she didn’t want to see Sarney get in trouble for it. Nightjohn convinces mammy to let him teach Sarney, and later, Mammy was fine with the teaching and Nightjohn continues.
The Story Mascot is about Malcolm x during his childhood era. It starts out as Malcolm x attending a reform school and living with his foster family “Swerlins”. Malcolm x fit in very well to his school, and didn’t have a problem being there. He even becomes, class president and is very successful. On the weekends he would go and visit his real family and see his brother who happened to be really good at boxing. Malcolm x wanted to be just like his brother and decide to start boxing. At school, Malcolm tries to beat a kid named Bill Peterson, but he ends up getting knocked out. Malcolm thought that he could go home and practice again but he ends up getting knocked out again. Later, Malcolm’s half-sister, Ella, comes to visit from Boston. Ella is a pretty successful woman in Boston, and Malcolm starts to look up to her. When Ella suggests that Malcolm come visit her sometime in Boston, he starts to think about it. When in Boston, Malcolm experiences a sense of area among other black people that he has never experienced before, and he really likes it. A major turning point occurs in his life when he has a talk with his English teacher, Mr. Ostrowski. When Malcolm tells Mr. Ostrowski that he wants to be a lawyer when he grows up, Mr. Ostrowski tells Malcolm to be more practical, and that he should consider something like carpentry instead. Yet, Mr. Ostrowski encourages his other white students to be things like nurses and veterinarian. In the end, Malcolm ends up moving to Boston with Ella. This is how Mascot ends.

The professor inspired his school to start the first debate team. Eventually he gather a group of well educated kids and starts to work his way up with debating. The professor, had issues of his own, with his secret meetings with the townspeople at night in a barn and tried to act more like a white guy than of his own kind. Later he has to deal with his problems and his students debate team.... etc. Throughout the story there was a discrimination against blacks. There were treated poorly and in certain parts of the united stated things were way much different. In Harvard during their last debate match, the black people had more freedoms than they did if they were to be in Texas. But compared with the previous stories mentioned, i would have to say that The Great Debater does have similarities and differences among the other stories. Example, In Nightjohn, slaves were discriminated against and just like The Great Debaters they didn't have much say when it came to small towns. When Mr Farmer was driving and accidentally hit the pig, he offered money to help pay it, but the white folks insisted that he would pay what they asked for rather than what it was really worth. Its not fair in cases like that. In Mascot, there wasn't much discrimination but there was hate coming from Malcolm's English teacher to him. SO today is tuesday, and turkey day is almost hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,!!!!! English has been a great week, we started reading short stories about human rights, and then we watched a movie called the great debate, at least i think that is what its called. Honeslty i think that it was a great movie. This is my second time seeing this movie and everytime i watch it, it gets better and better. The movie is about students from wiley college debating, and along their way they have to go through obstacles in order to get there and be on top. This movie is a really great movie to see how african americans had it harder back then to be able to get where they are today. It wasent really fair for them back in the olden days at all. They had to keep their head up high and be able to preserve. Finally the last debate was with wiley college vs. harvard! and it was good! The debate was about civil disobedience and both sides had very good points. Farmer junior was able to debate and i was so happy that he could but i was mad that the teacher wasent able to go. But then he showed up and saw the debate. Today i wasent able to see the rest of the movie because i had to go to the eastland fairfield trip, so im kinda mad! anyways i hope everyone has a good thanksgiving cause i know i ammmm!:):):)

SO its Wednesday, and and this week is going by so slow! Last weekend was great but this week is just to long.
This past weekend i went to the gahanna hockey game, and both jv and varsity won. Jv won 14-2 i think and varsity won 4-3, it was a really close game. but anways when the this week started i wasent ready to go back to school. I wanted it to be thanksgiving day with good food and everything but thats next week. In English were done reading 12 angry men and are moving on to other to reading little stories in a book. The stories are about human rights. I dont really like this, becuase i like to read about something happy or mystery, not something thats depressing or about people getting whipped. Its definatly not what i would recommend. And the fact that we have to read different stories everyday is confusing me. I would like to stay on one general story and not have to worry about all the other ones. So yea, thats all i have to stay. Like i would rather read a chapter book about this than read a different story everyday. Overall i hope this week goes by a little faster, cause i really want thanksgiving to be here already. I cant wait for that 5 day weekend!

What a weekend... it started out with me being sick on friday, to a funeral on saturday and homework sunday. This is possibly one of the worst weekends of my life. I didnt hang out with any friends, and i had no fun at all this whole entire weekend. What a pain in the buttttt! hahaha. Anyways so its monday once again, and its stating to be better. Im not as sickk as what i was but i do still have a slight cough. In class today, we finished i think the last 6 pages of 12 angry men. I enjoyed it a lot because the book has a mystery ending to it. Theres no right or wrong answer and you can pretty much assume anything according to the judges. When we finished the book we disgust whether the boy should be guilty or not. I think he is guilty no matter how you change and twist the fats around. Theres no real proof, just a lot of she said this and saw that, and he said this and saw that. Theres no actual fingerprints or witnesses in this case that saw the death. The woman across the street said she saw the boy kill his father, but who says that she wasn't trying to frame to boy, i mean she could have something against him that. And the man who said he heard the screaming, how does he know where he heard the screaming from, these are all things i would take into consideration, if the boy really did kill his father. But in my doubt i think the boy is guilty! period end of story.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a great week! Its a new quarter and i think im going to start this quarter off as a good one! This week has been pretty good so far. We started a new book called 12 angry men, and its another book about a trial. Its somewhat like to kill a mockingbird, with the trial part, but it dosent have to deal with kids growing up in a town whose father is a lawyer. 12 Angry men is about men who are on a jury and there know for a fact that the kid killed his father, but theres only one guy who thinks hes not guilty. They all sit there at a table to disgust the facts about his killing. Honeslty, the book so far is pretty interesting, and when your on the jury is even better, reading out each little part. I liked it a lot, and i hope we continue to do it. I hope we dont have to do any research projects with this, or any study guide questions cause i dont think that it will be fun.
By the way, last weekend was ok. My family and I went to a park out in lancaster, latley we have been going to parks like every weekend for some reason, but i dont mind it. Im also looking for a job cause im tired of staying home and helping my parents clean the house, its not my favorite thing to do!!! And i will get moneyyyy:)

TO kill a mockingbirdddd is finished
SO this whole entire week had been crazy. Since the quarter is ending fast i had had about 5 tests and a presentation this whole entire week!!! boy was it crazyyyyyy!! hopefully i didnt do to bad on them or else that wouldnt be so good. This week in English we kept reading to kill a mockingbird which kinda took forever. THe book is actually really good though. I have to admit, that i was really mad to find that tom was guilty. Though i was really happyt that boo radley saves the kids and kills mr ewell, cause he deserved it. Overall i thought that book had a very good ending, though it didnt end happy, it still ended well! Tomorrow i have a test over to kill a mockingbird, which i know for a fact that im going to do good at. I read ever chapter in the book, and i understand and particpiate in the class discussions about the book. The next book that we read should be like to kill a mockingbird but even better. I like alot of mystery books and stories that are like that type. To kill a mockingbird has a really good title because, mockingbirds dont harm anyone and just make peaceful music, i prefer to read books that have good meanings to them but at the same time of mystery.

So, holy crap. I was just taking a shower and thought about how i had a lot of homework this weekend and then i just remembered that i forgot to do my bloggggg! omg. i will never forget this late to do this again.
anyways this week has been one crazy week. since the first quarter is about to be over next week teachers have been pushing to cram all these notes, readings, and projects over a small amount of time. im so not ready for all of this. in english things are going great, we have reached part 2 of the book already and it seems like the book isn't really that bad. part 1 was okay and its more based on the kids in in maycomb and boo radley. but now its more about their father atticus and the trial, which im more interested in. i guess people back then were really racists, which isn't a good thing. so, so far the book has been great. along the way mr potter has been giving us quizzes which aren't that bad, i have only missed 1 or 2 on like all the quizzes, so im happy. i enjoy the fact that mr potter reads to us, with like using different character voices so thats it more interesting. most teachers just tell the students to read on their own, or have them listen to a tape. o and by the way im excited to watch the movie, cause im curious to see if things are different or the same as the book. alrightyyy im going to bedddddd! night

3 day weeeeeeek!
This week has been a great week. Only three days of school and a late arrival start on Wednesday which meant 25 minute periods. On Monday in English class, we read to kill a mockingbird, and honestly i don't think its that bad of a book. The book isn't boring, but it has mystery to it and catches your attention through each chapter. On Tuesday we had a quiz, and i got a 19 our of 20. It was easy because i actually read the chapters and understood what i read. The quiz isn't very hard, which is good. On Wednesday, Mr. potter read us a chapter of to kill a mocking bird. I forget which one, but he read to us. hahaha!!!!. Anyways this week has been great. All of our research projects i think are done, and now were just reading. Eventually we will probably watch the movie and finish the book. Overall, English class is pretty great, and i don't have to worry about much, except for keeping up on the reading, and studying for vocab. I hope our class will finish the book by the end of the grading period which is October 29. Speaking of grading period, i should probably get my grades up. Like its not that i have bad grades, its just that i know i can do better than what i am doing. Biology isn't my favorite subject and thats my lowest grade. On the other hand us history, pottery, gym, and spanish are my higher grades. anyways i hope i get my grades uppppppppp!!!!!!!

Blogging
Again, today is Monday, as you know our Trail research paper was due today! In class Mr. Potter had us reorganize our folder to the way he wanted us to have it. In the left pocket went in the check list while the other side was note cards, rough drafts and sources. It was really confusing i thought. Then he had us organize our note cards from the way we used them in our paper. That literally took me the whole entire class period. But then mr. potter told us that our final research paper was going to be due tomorrow. I was so happy, cause as it turns out, i actually forgot to use Turn it In.com. So, overall i was glad that we had that extra day to take care of stuff that we forgot to do. Now, that project is completley finish i dont have to worry about note cards or getting sources and stuff like that anymore. It a relief to day that im done with those research paper things. grrrrr, they really weren't that fun, but i did learn some interesting stuff out of it. Who would have known, that the only reason why the black sox players took money was because their commissioner didn't pay them enough. Anyways, im glad that im done with this project, so i can actually have more free time. Lately is has been freezing cold outside and its not that i dont like the cold, its just that if its going to be cold, at least it shouldn't rain. Rain just makes the cold twice as worse and its not that great. I hope it warms up a little bit.

Blogggggggg
So, today is Monday, and as you know I had homework over the weekend. It was to complete your trial research paper outline. I ended up doing it at 6:30 last night because I had to finish my U.S History project, which took like 5 hours to do. After i was done with that i was able to eat dinner and walk my dog. Also when i got to English class i noticed that i sit next to baileyyyyy. I was so happppy. Then i asked to use the restroom, then i caught up with Bailey on some gossip, hahahaha. Anyways great times! We talked about homecoming and riding in a limousine Then Mr. potter came around and asked us if we had our outlines done so he could check them off. I had mine done and i was able to get checked off on my sheet. Bailey had a little trouble, so i helped her on her outlining. During English class i worked on my Spanish homework and i finished most of it. Overall English class was pretty fun, because of the new seats we got and we were able to have the work day to ourselves. Tomorrow, i hope is the same thing as today, but mostly just a work day because those are great. And my trial for English is really interesting and my mom is supposed to be ordering in a movie that will help me better understand the project!!!!

Fun dayy!
SO this week has been funnn. Our class has been going to the library for our researchhh, and now it Wednesday and we have completed all of our note cards. 55 to be exact but i actually have 60 because i didn't know we were supposed to have 55 so i did 5 more, but then it turns out that i already had 55 and did an extra 5... so now i have 60! wowww.. We also go new seats,, because every week we get new seats, and now i sit next to Will. Great! , not... Anyways yesterday my best friend bailey brought in goldfish, and since i have 6 th period lunchh that snack was just soooooo delicious! hahah thankssss bayyy. Today in class our rough draft for works cited was due, and i only had two mistakes, i had the authors name and last name backwards and i wrote my name on the top right corner of my paper, which apparently wasent needed. Also today in class bailey brought in cheddar popcorn, which was again, very yummy:):):). And let me tell you, it made my day. Then the next thing i know i see Bailey writing on the chalkboard - Kelsey + Jared. i didnt notice it untill bailey said something, then i ran up to the board and erased ittttt. Lol. Then as soon as i erased it, bailey went to another part on the board and wrote kelsey <3 jareddddd. hahahahhaa but then i erased it againnn, then balley asked mr potter what jareds last name was and mr potter said sit down. And let me tell you, thats not his last nameeeee!!! lmao. then i went on the board and was about to write baileys loverrrrr, but i didnt because i was sooooo niceeeee and i knew she told me not to tell anyoneeee, so i didnt. After that little incident, me and bailey talked about homecominggg, and who we should go with. Then what we were going to this weekend. We decided that we were going to go to the Pickerington Central game this friday, since its supposed to be biggg!!! and im exciteddd. So that was my day in englishhhhh!:)

more homeworkkkk
During this whole entire week in English we turned in our persuasive essays then were given a new research paper called trials. We went to the library i think wednesday thurday and friday, and it was like supppppper cold in. I dont know why libraries have to be so cold, haha. And then we started researching our trials, mine about the Black Sox losing the World Series. It seeemed intresting to me because i remmeber watching a movie about it,, so i thought it would be a good idea since i knew a little bit about it. the project isnt that bad except for the fact that its like 300 points or whatever, and its a lot to do. i mean note cards, outline, rough draft, final, bib cards, research cars, works cited. ahhhhhh. a lot of workkkkkk, geesh mr potter. though in class were taking it day by day, so the work isn't as overwhelming, which is a good thing. So todays friday and i think its going to be a good weekend, not that much homework and probably going to hang with friends. hahaha, its also my moms birthdayyy, so were going to go out to celebrate it, at the fish market. yummy:) and tonight im going to the gahanna football game. GO LIONS. And im doing this last minute cause i completley forgot about it. hahahaha, but its not really that funny.!

So today's monday and it wasent really that bad, usually they stink, but today didnt.
In English today we got new seats, and today Mr potter had us to editing with our rough draft persuasive essays. He had us trade with a friend and then we would start editing. I didnt hate it but it was school work. We took the majority of class just doing that, then he talked to us about blogging cause apparently some people in the class dont know how blog, hahahaha but anyways he showed us that. When there were like 4 minutes of class left we ended up packing up, and then we couldnt leave early because of that, o well.

So today in english class we had to refresh our memories with essay structuring. It was really boring i thought, but i got through it. As it turns out since it was the end of the little unit, my potter assigned us a paper- which was to write a persuasive essay. The one thing i hate the most is writing cause it always takes me a long time to get started, but when i do get started the rest of the paper gets easy. After we were done with refreshing, i jotted down some ideas for my paper, but im not too sure yet what i really want to do it on. The persuasive essay is due wed and the rough draft is due mon.... look like i got work to do.

So todays tuesday and english class was not that bad. We started out today getting new seats which i dont mind but i dont sit next to baileyyy:( but maybe next week hopefully. Next Mr potter talked to us about poetry and he passed out a sheet that had different types of short poems on them written by robert frost. Then he had us read them by ourselves and then he read them the first poem to us. It was hard to understand the poem at first but after we read it in class and i read it a couple times over i began to get what obert was talking about. Everyday we have to make decisions and sometimes its for the good or the bad, but either way we got to make them. Later we with partners and answered the questions that corresponded to the poem. Me and bailey got through the questions which were easy and by time we were finished the class was over. So as it turns english wasent that bad and i enjoyed it:)
